Abstract
Spontaneous pneumothorax is a part of possible complications secondary to a COVID-19 pneumonic infection. It has a significant mortality rate impact, making this pathology a very relevant issue within the medical community. The present clinical case helps us to consolidate fundamentals in which this complication is based. Medical staff must recognize its physiology and diagnosis in order to provide timely and adequate management and improve the patient's prognosis. The treatment must be flexible. It depends on the clinic and the paraclinical examinations. A rapid decompensation may occur as appears in the following case. Therefore, physicians must have enough knowledge to be able to modify the previously drawn guidelines, avoiding an exacerbation of the pathology. This article is intended to help updating key concepts for proper medical development in the pandemic context.
