ABSTRACT
To describe the signs that can be found in an autopsy, whose cause of death is asphyxia by hanging or by strangulation; this theoretical review was developed, in which
26 publications were included, from 2010 to the present. Hanging is one of the main
forms of suicide, more frequent among men; while strangulation occurs more among
women; and her perpetrator usually has love or family ties with her. The knowledge of
the external and internal signs in both causes of death is of vital importance for the
forensic doctor
