Abstract:
Introduction: Breast carcinoma represents 0.2% to 1.5% of all cancers in men. The predisposing factors are: exposure to radiation, diseases related to hyperestrogenism, obesity, administration of estrogens and genetics. Its diagnosis is usually late and in advanced stages.
Objective: To present the case of a male patient with infiltrating ductal carcinoma in the left breast.
Methodology: Study, review of clinical history and discussion of a clinical case followed at the National Oncology Institute “Dr. Juan Tanca Marengo” of the Society for the Fight Against Cancer (SOLCA), Guayaquil.
Case: A 69-year-old male presented with a tumor in the left breast, with a
pathological diagnosis of histological grade 2 infiltrating ductal carcinoma.
Within the management plan, left modified radical mastectomy was performed and chemotherapy was instituted.
Conclusion: Due to the infrequent nature of this pathology, it is diagnosed in advanced stages, since there are no effective screening methods
